Brandon Aiyuk Ruled Out For Season Finale With Ankle Injury
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk (ankle) has been deemed unavailable for Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, ending his rookie year. Aiyuk picked up a high-ankle sprain during the team's Week 16 win over the Cardinals, a contest in which he recorded a season-low one reception. Aiyuk's role in the passing game had erupted during the second half of the year as the 49ers sustained widespread injuries to multiple pass-catchers. Maybe most impressive about Aiyuk's rookie season is that beyond the 60 receptions for 748 yards and five touchdowns, he compiled those numbers without Jimmy Garoppolo under center for most of the campaign. The group of Richie James, River Cracraft, Kendrick Bourne, and Jordan Matthews are all in line to see increased targets without Aiyuk in the mix during Week 17.
