Jared Goff Has Surgery On Thumb; Unlikely To Play In Week 17
4 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff (thumb) underwent surgery to correct the broken thumb on his throwing hand Monday, making it highly unlikely that he is cleared in time to take the field Sunday versus Arizona. Without Goff in the equation, John Wolford is likely to start for the Rams, thereby making his NFL debut. Undrafted out of Wake Forest, Wolford tossed 29 touchdowns as a senior in 2017. Should the Rams advance to the postseason, the door remains open for Goff to return, although it's far from a sure thing. With the Cardinals Defense having been much improved as of late, and with Arizona needing a win to advance to the postseason, Wolford can be viewed as a high-risk talent in Week 17.
