Alex Smith Likely To Start In Week 17
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) is expected to start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. Smith is listed as questionable with a calf injury and has not played since Week 14 but he was reportedly close to playing last week. The veteran quarterback's return to action is a boost for a Washington team that is in a must-win situation if they want to make the playoffs, although his return to the field is more significant in real-life than it is in fantasy. That being said, he can still be treated as a low-end QB2/high-end QB3 for the regular-season finale. His presence also represents an uptick for his pass-catchers, namely Logan Thomas, J.D. McKissic, and Terry McLaurin (if he plays through a questionable tag). Taylor Heinicke will return to a reserve role after playing during the second half and throwing a touchdown in Week 16.
