Alex Smith Officially Named Starter For Sunday Night’s Game
4 years agoWashington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (leg) has been given the green light to suit up for Sunday's contest versus Philadelphia. Smith had been trending in the right direction all week, but was still deemed questionable earlier Sunday. With Smith under center, backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke loses his DFS appeal, although injury concern are still swirling around the veteran signal caller and his ability to play all 60 minutes against the Eagles. With Washington needing to win to advance to the postseason, expect the team to rely on Smith for as long as he can hold up physically. Despite the team's 4-1 record with Smith under center, he's tossed just four passing touchdowns to six interceptions this year, so DFS managers can temper expectations.
