4 years agoThe Chicago White Sox and catcher Jonathan Lucroy have come to terms on a Minor League contract. Lucroy will be looking to make the Opening Day roster as a backup to Yasmani Grandal, whom the team has utilized at both first base and designated hitter since joining Chicago. With James McCann having departed for the Mets, the White Sox will give the veteran Lucroy a chance to earn the No. 2 job. Lucroy appeared in one game last season with Boston, but did not log a plate appearance. His last full season came in 2019, which was split between the Angels and Cubs, where he delivered a .232/.305/.355 slash line in 101 games. No longer the stalwart of fantasy leagues that he was from '13-16, Lucroy will simply enter spring camp looking to nab a roster spot.--Jesse Borek
