Brandon Belt Not A Lock To Be Ready For Start Of Season
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt (heel) is on the comeback trail following surgery on his heel that ended his 2020 season, but Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi admitted Thursday that Belt may not be ready for Opening Day. In the wake of Tommy La Stella inking a three-year deal that became official Thursday, he would stand to see time at first should Belt not be cleared in time. San Francisco's long-time first baseman is coming off a career year that saw him deliver a 1.015 OPS in 51 games, hitting above .300 for the first time in his career. Whether last year was an outlier will have to be the question that fantasy managers ask themselves about Belt entering draft season, especially with a growing likelihood that he won't be available come April 1.
