Reds Eyeing Jonathan Villar At Shortstop
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds and free-agent infielder Jonathan Villar are in contract discussions on a rumored one-year deal. The team is said to be considering Villar to serve as their starting shortstop for the 2021 season, but the two sides have yet to finalize a deal. Villar stole 16 bases in 185 at-bats split between the Miami Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2020 season, but he has 20/20 potential if he ends up playing his home games in the hitter-friendly environs of Great American Ballpark. If he does land in Cincy, it would be a nice boost to Villar's fantasy stock.
