4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs and relief pitcher Brandon Workman have agreed to a one-year deal worth $1 million on Wednesday, with the chance to earn up to $2 million if he reaches performance-based incentives. The reliever is now 32 years of age and struggled mightily in 2020 with a 5.95 ERA in 19 2/3 innings with the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. Workman did have a strong 2019 campaign with the Red Sox, posting a 1.88 ERA with 16 saves, and he could be one of the top options for the Cubs to close games if Craig Kimbrel struggles. But for now, Workman will just be a speculative late-inning arm in deeper NL-only leagues.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
