Phillies Are Still Hopeful For Scott Kingery
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies utility man Scott Kingery has had anything but a normal start to his big-league career. The former top prospect signed a six-year, $28 million contract before playing an MLB game and has been largely disappointing in three years since making the Phillies. Last season, Kingery was to abandon his super-utility role and settle in as the starting second baseman, but a long bout with COVID-19 caused him to miss the start of camp. A shoulder injury ended Kingery's season in August with an anemic .127 batting average. As a result, Kingery has largely fallen off the fantasy radar, but he still offers value in deeper formats. Kingery trimmed down this offseason with the hope of returning to the player he was in the minors when he posted an OPS of .826 across Double-A and Triple-A. Kingery's multi-position eligibility helps make him worth a flier at the end of drafts in deeper leagues.
