4 years agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Andrelton Simmons has been delayed to the team's camp by visa issues. The exact details are unclear at the moment, though manager Rocco Baldelli described it as "travel-related"- saying that it could take a few days to resolve. Simmons signed a one-year deal worth $10.5 million this offseason to be the new starting shortstop for Minnesota after dealing with ankle injuries in the shortened season before ultimately opting out. The 31-year-old makes more of an impact with his glove than his bat- no shortstop has had more than his 191 defensive runs saved through age 30- though he's batted .281 over the last five seasons with 51 stolen bases while posting a strikeout rate below 12.6 percent in each year. Simmons is more of an option in deeper mixed leagues.--Tim Capurso
