4 years agoChicago Cubs third baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant is open to negotiating a contract to remain with the team. Bryant will be eligible to be a free agent for the first time after this season and with Scott Boras as his agent, Bryant is likely to command a large contract either with the Cubs or another suitor. The former MVP hasn't been able to top his 2016 campaign, but much can be associated with a flurry of injuries over the last couple of seasons. The Cubs ownership has cut their payroll dramatically this offseason and it remains to be seen if the feeling is mutual to bring Bryant back with shortstop Javier Baez also set to hit free agency and expected to receive a big contract. Bryant, 29, struggled last season with a .206 batting average and just four home runs and 11 RBI this season, but managers have seen what he is capable of in the past and he makes for a prime bounce back candidate in all formats.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
