Zack Wheeler Feels Good After Fingernail Surgery
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler said he feels 100 percent healthy after throwing bullpen sessions in Spring Training. Wheeler ripped a fingernail on his pitching hand last September that caused him to miss a start. This is the second time in his career Wheeler had this surgery and said it is not affecting him throwing the baseball. Wheeler is coming off a solid first season in Philadelphia where he went 4-2 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. He won't provide a ton of strikeouts with just a 22.4% career-strikeout rate and some ERA regression should be expected (3.76 xFIP). Wheeler's primary value in fantasy will be his ability to eat innings as he pitched 71 last season, and cleared the 180-inning plateau three of the four years before last season. He's a solid starter to target near pick 100.
