Logan Gilbert Expected To Make Major League Debut This Year
4 years agoSeattle Mariners top pitching prospect Logan Gilbert is expected to make his major league debut this year. Gilbert, considered to be one of the top two Seattle pitching prospects along with recent draftee Emerson Hancock, will almost certainly begin the season in the minors. A 23-year-old right-hander, Gilbert stands an imposing 6-foot-6 and throws a four-pitch mix, highlighted by his fastball. The four-seamer hits 97 mph with late movement, but it's his improved changeup that has him knocking on the door to the big league club. Throughout his minor league career, Gilbert has a 5:1 strikeout-to-walk rate with a WHIP of 0.95. He could be an excellent fantasy contributor, if and when his opportunity arises.
