Zach Eflin Impressive In Spring Debut
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin threw two scoreless innings in his Grapefruit League debut Wednesday against the Tigers. Eflin struck out three, including back-to-back strikeouts to end a dominant first inning where he needed just 11 pitches. The 26-year-old righty is coming off a strong season where he posted a career-best 3.97 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. His improvements are supported by a change in pitch-mix to feature his sinker and curveball more. This led to an improvement in most skill-based pitching metrics including a whopping 10 percent increase in K-rate (28.6). Eflin should be drafted before his near-200 average draft position.
