4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kevin Newman exited Sunday's game against the Orioles with left hamstring tightness according to MLB.com's Jake Crouse. Crouse reports that manager Derek Shelton described the move as precautionary and that Newman is expected to return as early as Tuesday. Newman was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI before being replaced in the fourth inning by Ji-Hwan Bae, and he is now slashing .750/.818/.875 to open Spring Training. Coming off a down year in which he hit .224 with a .557 OPS, it looks like Newman is primed for a bounce-back 2021 campaign in which he can be a solid middle-infielder in deeper leagues and NL-only formats.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
