4 years agoColorado Rockies reliever Scott Oberg will throw a live batting practice session on Monday. The 30-year-old has yet to pitch in a Cactus League game this spring as he's been recovering from surgeries that he underwent last September due to blood clotting issues in his throwing arm. He will be evaluated by coaches, training, and medical staffs following his batting practice session, per beat writer Thomas Harding. If all goes well, the plan is for Oberg to pitch in a game by the end of this week. Rockies manager Bud Black told reporters that the "hope" is for the righty to make eight Cactus League appearances before camp is over. Reliever Daniel Bard seems to have a firm grip on the closer role for now but Oberg should serve as his setup man if he can get through camp without any setbacks. Bard will be the preferred arm to roster in fantasy but Oberg could provide some value in leagues that count holds.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
