Myles Straw Emerges As Astros Likely Leadoff Hitter
4 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Myles Straw has stuck out as manager Dusty Baker's likeliest choice to hit in the No. 1 slot in the lineup come Opening Day. Straw is taking over on a full-time basis for George Springer, who signed with the Blue Jays during the off-season. Straw's speed is a rare commodity in 2021, but also what makes him such a fascinating fantasy asset. His sprint speed from '20 graded out in the 91st percentile, while he stole six bags in 33 games. For his career, Straw has been caught stealing just three times, amassing 16 steals in 98 contests. In addition to being a stolen base threat, batting ahead of Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa and Michael Brantley should do wonders for Straw's run-scoring potential. Boasting a career .649 OPS, Straw can be seen as a deep league, late-round option, albeit one that should carry a significant role out of the gates.
