Miles Mikolas Will Not Throw Bullpen On Wednesday
4 years agoSaint Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas will not throw a bullpen session on Wednesday as was originally scheduled. The 32-year-old right-hander has been dealing with a shoulder issue in addition to a flexor tendon strain in his throwing elbow. He played some aggressive catch on Tuesday but had to cut it short due to shoulder soreness. He's now scheduled to undergo further tests to determine the severity of the shoulder issue. "That will clearly impact his beginning of the season, clearly," manager Mike Shildt told reporters. This is disappointing news for Mikolas, who reportedly entered camp healthy and missed all of the 2020 season with the elbow issue. There's no chance he begins the year in the starting rotation now, which opens the door for RHP John Gant to fill a rotation spot in St. Louis. Fantasy managers should consider Mikolas day-to-day for now and hold off on drafting him until we hear more about his health.
