4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Mickey Moniak has been presented with a feast or famine option surrounding his Grapefruit League outcome, and so far, he's mostly feasted. Moniak has begun play 5-for-9 with a pair of home runs, a triple, and a double all to his name. Manager Joe Girardi made it clear Tuesday that if Moniak breaks camp with the club, he'll be doing so with a full-time job in tow, saying, "If he comes up, he has to play." Moniak, the first overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, got his first taste of the big leagues last year and went 3-for-14 without an extra-base hit. With Bryce Harper and Andrew McCutchen holding down corner outfield spots, and no DH in the NL this year, Moniak will have to beat out Scott Kingery, Adam Haseley and Roman Quinn for the starting CF gig. Should Moniak make the Opening Day roster, he'd be an interesting upside choice in redraft leagues, while keepers managers would finally begin to get a return on their investment.--Jesse Borek
