Yordan Alvarez On Track For Spring Debut Next Week
4 years agoHouston Astros outfielder/designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (knee) is nearing a return to game action and could be in the lineup for Grapefruit League games as soon as next week. Alvarez's 2020 campaign was torpedoed by a positive COVID-19 test, followed by surgeries on both of his knees. Playing in just two games, Alvarez was unable to follow up on his 2019 American League Rookie of the Year campaign when he smashed 27 homers in just 87 games. Assuming that he's able to stay healthy, Alvarez figures to be a staple of the Astros' lineup this year from the DH slot. Fantasy managers will want to closely monitor his knee ailment as the season progresses, but his prodigious power (.654 SLG in 89 career games) provides him upside in droves in all season-long formats.
