Jake Cronenworth Starting Hot In Spring
4 years agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth is off to a .364/.417/.455 this spring across 12 plate appearances. The 27-year-old enjoyed a sensational rookie campaign, posting a .831 OPS while popping four homers, swiping three bags and tallying 46 runs-plus-RBI in 192 plate appearances. With the offseason addition of Korean infielder Ha-Seong Kim, Cronenworth's playing time is uncertain but he'll get the first crack at earning the starting role. The versatile Cronenworth has also been taking reps in the outfield and qualifies for multiple positions in fantasy. At his 188 ADP, managers should handicap his potential to sit several games a week, but an excellent batted-ball resume supports Cronenworth's ability to maintain an elevated average with modest power and speed. He's a worthwhile bench spot in all formats.
