Michael Lorenzen Strikes Out Three In Loss
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Michael Lorenzen allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings of work in a 9-3 Cactus League loss to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. Lorenzen struck out three and didn't issue a walk in the outing, his second appearance of the spring. The right-hander has now allowed six earned runs in his four innings of work in the Cactus League as he tries to hold off Jose De Leon, Tejay Antone, and Jeff Hoffman for the fifth spot in the starting rotation. Lorenzen has reportedly been in the lead for the role but his spring performance could force the team decision-makers to reconsider. Lorenzen would return to a bullpen role if he doesn't land in the starting rotation. A new candidate for the fifth-starter role, Wade Miley, will make his spring debut this week.
