ANALYSIS: If Dennis Smith Jr. will get it right as a pro-player in the NBA, nobody truly knows. But he's at least getting another chance as part of a rebuilding Detroit Pistons franchise that traded for him a month ago and that is playing him as the starting point guard already. DSJ had logged seven consecutive starts leading up to the AS break, had averaged 27 MPG in his last five games, and he's putting up impressive numbers. That didn't happen Thursday in his first game after the break, but there are reasons to keep believing.
In the three games DSJ played for the Knicks this season and his first six as a Piston you would have perfectly recognized the DSJ of old judging by his stat lines. Since he became a starter and in the six games he's played 18+ minutes in Detroit, though, he's thrived. Smith is averaging a ridiculous 1.21 FP/min since Feb. 23, and if we remove his last outing from the equation--a revenge game against the Knicks on March 4--he'd be up to 1.32 FP/min in the remaining five games in that span. That is, simply put, insane.
Detroit has turned DSJ into an über-efficient player overnight. Smith is averaging 11 PPG, 4 RPG, 4.5+ APG, and 1.5+ SPG as a starter for the Pistons. He's shooting a reasonable 10 FGA, not going crazy about that facet of the game, and he's scored either one or two three-pointers in all of his last seven games before the break. Whether DSJ can keep it up or not ROS is yet to be seen, but he's quite the reclamation project and there aren't many places where he can finally get his stuff together as a rebuilding, no-pressure Detroit squad.

Fantasy Basketball Deeper-League Waiver Wire Adds for Week 24: Isaac Okoro, Kris Dunn, Josh Richardson, Corey Kispert, Delon Wright
The deeper a fantasy basketball league, the harder it is to hit a winner with your last few picks. It is also harder to find decent help from the waiver wire if your late-round picks don't do you justice. If you picked up a few stinkers, don't lose hope just yet. I will try to […]
Onyeka Okongwu (SF/PF, ATL): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Hawks are currently the 10th seed in the East but are also tied for 8th and 9th with Brooklyn and Charlotte respectively. There's even a chance (albeit small) that Atlanta could rise as high as to reach the 7th seed if […]
Immanuel Quickley (PG, NYK): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 48% of leagues ANALYSIS: If we use common basketball sense, then the New York Knicks and Coach Thibs should try and see what the young guys such as Immanuel Quickley have in them and what they can provide the franchise with ROS, as the NYK are […]
Deni Avdija (SG/SF, WAS): Week 24 Waiver Wire Pickups
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 37% of leagues ANALYSIS: One would reasonably think that a player seeing a playing-time boost such as that of Deni Avdija's this month would make said player drop his efficiency numbers. Well, not the case for the Wiz Wing by the looks of it. Avdija has […]

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues ROSTERED IN: 24% of leagues ANALYSIS: The Nets can finally rest assured they'll make the play-in portion of the season. Not quite what you expected when the season got rolling back in October, but at least more than what the Lakers would have accomplished a week from now. […]
