Ovechkin's marker was the 715th of his career, moving him within two goals of Phil Esposito for sixth place on the all-time goal-scoring list. The Russian winger has tallied 19 points this year, playing in 22 contests. He has just 2 goals in his last five games, but he has recorded 27 shots during that time frame.
