Wade Miley Eyes Return To Mound Next Week
4 years agoCincinnati Reds left-handed pitcher Wade Miley (hamstring) departed his first Cactus League outing early Thursday night, but he said Friday that the move was largely precautionary, not wanting to aggravate the ailment so close to the start of the year. Miley is planning on getting back on the hill next week in an attempt to ramp up for one of the Reds open starting slots. With $8 million committed to the southpaw in 2021, Cincinnati figures to give Miley a sizable leash, especially after he worked only 14 1/3 innings last year. Not being strikeout-heavy puts Miley on the fence in most season-long leagues, as he's likely set to open the year as a weekly streamer option when he has two starts, assuming that he's stretched out come April 1.
