4 years agoToronto Blue Jays starter Thomas Hatch will be developed as a starter in 2021 despite his success out of the bullpen in 2020, according to manager Charlie Montoyo. The young pitcher struggled with his control while making his first appearance of the spring on Friday but allowed just one unearned run over two innings. He issued two walks but did not allow a hit and struck out two batters. A starter throughout his career, Hatch made 16 relief appearances and one start last year in the majors. He allowed just 18 hits with a 21% strikeout rate in 26.1 innings. Hatch will look to make the Jays' starting rotation out of spring but is more likely to open the year at the alternate training site.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
