Brandon Belt Had COVID-19 In January
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt told reporters on Saturday that he had COVID-19 back in January and also contracted mononucleosis a few weeks ago. "It's a long ordeal and obviously wasn't that fun, but right now I feel I'm getting back on track," the 32-year-old first baseman said. Belt has had quite the offseason after undergoing heel surgery before dealing with two serious illnesses. The good news is that all of that seems to be behind him as he's started taking batting practice recently. As of now, he's expected to be ready for Opening Day. Belt put up some phenomenal numbers in the shortened 2020 season when he slashed .303/.425/.591 with nine home runs and 30 RBI over 149 at-bats. He's a solid late-round target, especially in OBP leagues, if you miss out on a marquee first baseman earlier in your draft.
