4 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Tejay Antone exited Sunday's Cactus League start vs. the San Diego Padres with a mild groin strain. Antone started the game and left after 2 2/3 innings. He re-entered the game in the fourth, which you're allowed to do this spring, and threw a few warmup pitches before meeting with trainers and exiting for good. The team announced later that it was a "mild" right groin strain that was affecting him. The 27-year-old righty looked sharp this spring as he's been gunning for a spot in the starting rotation. He had 13 strikeouts over his 7 2/3 innings thus far but this groin issue, even if it is mild, could affect his availability for Opening Day. We'll see how he progresses through this injury but there's a good chance Antone starts the year as a swingman between the bullpen and the starting rotation once he's back in the fold.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
