ANALYSIS: De'Anthony Melton really isn't playing much more this season than he did in his previous two NBA campaigns, but his time on the floor is being used much more efficiently. In 20.5 minutes per game, Melton has averaged a career-best 10.0 points, with 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals. Most impressively, Melton has completely turned his game around from beyond the three-point line and on offense in general, increasing his three-point success rate from 28.6% last year to 43.5% in 2021 (1.7 out of 3.9 a game) with career-bests in effective field goal rate (58.6%) and true shooting percentage (59.8%).
Melton has continued to produce well-rounded statistics as a part of the busy Grizzlies backcourt, and his PT has remained quite steady from month to month despite several moving pieces in Grind City. His steal percentage remains a potent weapon that sets De'Anthony Melton apart from the pack, but with him being zoned-in from all over the field, he is a desirable option in deeper leagues.
