Eugenio Suarez To Start At SS On Tuesday
4 years agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez will shift over and get the start at shortstop in Tuesday's Cactus League game against the Colorado Rockies. Suarez was originally a shortstop in the minors and spent some time in the majors at the position as recently as 2015 before getting moved to third base. Manager David Bell told reporters, "We have to see what it looks like. We're not making any decisions now, we have a lot of options. We have guys willing to do what's best for our team and have bought in to whatever it takes." If Bell likes what he sees from Suarez at shortstop, it could impact several other players on the Cincy roster, as the team could move Mike Moustakas to third base, thus opening up a position battle for the everyday second base role. MLB Pipeline's No. 5 prospect Jonathan India has had an excellent spring and could seize the second base job.
