Chi Chi Gonzalez Strikes Out Four In Tuesday's Start
4 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings in Tuesday's Cactus League start vs. the Cincinnati Reds. This was technically a letdown of a start as Gonzalez was scheduled to pitch four innings but couldn't last that long. He's still fighting for the fifth and final rotation spot for the Rockies and his chances increased earlier on Tuesday when RHP Ryan Castellani was optioned to Triple-A. Gonzalez has been decent so far this spring, putting up a 3.75 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and 6:2 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings. He's not worthy of a fantasy roster spot if he does indeed winning a starting role.
