4 years agoOakland Athletics outfielder Mark Canha hasn't hit much so far in Cactus League play, but the veteran is making his push to bat leadoff thanks to a .440 on-base percentage this spring. Canha, who went 1-for-3 from the one-hole on Wednesday, has been batting leadoff in spring training and seems to have the inside track with Ramon Laureano (side) banged up. Canha has improved his walk rate in three straight seasons, culminating in a sturdy 15.2 percent mark last season. Canha's OBP has been over .385 in back-to-back seasons, which the A's famously value from their top-of-the-order hitters. Canha is barely being drafted in the top 300 overall, but he should be targeted sooner than that, especially in leagues that reward walks.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
