4 years agoLos Angeles Angels right-handed pitcher Aaron Slegers (back) did not pitch Thursday, as was originally the plan, due to what manager Joe Maddon described as "some tightness." Slegers has appeared in two Cactus League games and has not allowed a run over 2 1/3 frames. At 6-foot-10, Slegers is an exciting bullpen option, even though he has not yet generated gaudy strikeout numbers at the big league level. Having amassed three saves over the past two seasons with the Rays, Slegers figures to slot into a bullpen group that is looking up at Raisel Iglesias as its closer. Having already dealt with back spasms during camp, Slegers' ailment isn't a positive sign. Check back over the coming weeks to see if he shakes the injury in time to be named to the Opening Day roster.--Jesse Borek
