Sam Hilliard Goes Yard On Friday
4 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Sam Hilliard went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's Cactus League game against the Cleveland Indians. It was Hilliard's first long ball of what has been a solid Cactus League up to this point. The 27-year-old is slashing .257/.366/.371 with one home run, seven RBI, and four stolen bases over 35 at-bats. He's also drawn six walks but has twice as many strikeouts, which is par for the course. He struck out a whopping 42 times in just 36 games (105 at-bats) last season and has struggled to make consistent contact early on his career. But he's still relatively young and should see regular at-bats for the Rockies this season. He does offer some intriguing power/speed upside and is worth a late-round dart throw in deeper fantasy leagues.
