Chris Owings Has Contract Purchased By Rockies
4 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Chris Owings has had his contract purchased by the team, according to Thomas Harding of MLB.com. Owings and first baseman C.J. Cron, who also signed a minor-league deal in the offseason, were both added to the major league roster on Saturday. The injury to second baseman Brendan Rodgers should open up some playing time for Owings, who is capable of playing a multitude of positions, including second base. Colorado has some options at that position with both Garrett Hampson and Ryan McMahon expected to get some run there as well. All three players will have a chance to make that mark over Rodgers expected month long absence. Owings put up a .268/.318/.439 batting line with two home runs and five RBI over 17 games (41 at-bats) in 2020 with Colorado and is off to decent start this spring with a .259/.323/.519 triple slash line over 27 AB's. He's not really a preferred fantasy play outside of deep NL-only leagues even with his multi-position eligibility.
