4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller showed some improvement on Monday afternoon from his previous start, allowing four runs — three earned — on seven hits and one walk while striking out three in 3 1/3 innings of work against the Orioles. It speaks volumes about Keller's spring that Monday is considered one of his better outings, as he looked better than his last time out in which he allowed eight runs on 10 hits and a walk in just two innings against the Rays. Earlier in the day on Monday, MLB Network Insider Jon Heyman said scouts have told him that Keller has "No. 1 stuff," but that they can't figure out why he has struggled as much as he has in his time in the majors. It's possible that Keller can flip the switch and suddenly start fulfilling that potential, but until then managers should look to avoid Keller in pretty much any format.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
