Albert Pujols Hit By Pitch, Sustains Wrist Contusion
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels first baseman/designated hitter Albert Pujols (wrist) has been diagnosed with a left wrist contusion stemming from the hit by pitch that he sustained Monday in Cactus League play versus the Cubs. In addition to the X-rays coming back negative, manager Joe Maddon expressed optimism that Pujols would be OK moving forward. After years of being a fantasy stalwart, Pujols likely isn't on many Draft boards entering 2021. Jared Walsh is likely to take over full-time 1B duties, while Shohei Ohtani also figures to cut into Pujols' DH at-bats. Having produced a career-low .665 OPS across 39 games last season, even if Pujols is a full-go by Opening Day, he'll be an occasional DFS upside play at best to begin the year.
