4 years agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman/shortstop Marcus Semien went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two RBI in Monday's win over the Tigers. Semien got off to a bit of a quiet start this spring, but he's heating up now with three extra-base hits and three RBI in his last two games. The 30-year-old is coming off of a down year in 2020, as a low BABIP is part of the reason for his .223 average, while a decline in barrel rate and hard-hit rate is largely responsible for his .679 OPS. Expecting 2019, MVP-type numbers from Semien again is unrealistic, though he can be a solid late-round, middle infield option who can provide double-digit steals and homers in a strong Blue Jays lineup in 2021.--Tim Capurso
