Tejay Antone Expects To Begin Regular Season On Time
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Tejay Antone (groin/hip) has been out of action since leaving his March 17 start with a mild right groin strain. He since added a right hip flexor irritation to his list of injuries during a bullpen session on Saturday. Despite the two nagging injuries, Antone indicated on Tuesday that he expects to be healthy by the start of the regular season, stating, "I think my next bullpen is Thursday. If everything goes as planned on Thursday, looks like I'll be in a game on Sunday and then hopefully make this Opening Day roster." Antone entered camp expected to compete for a spot in the starting rotation but the injuries make it more likely that he opens the regular season in the bullpen. Even pitching out of the bullpen, Antone could still hold some fantasy value in deeper leagues.
