4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Lewis Thorpe has been sent down to the team's alternate site. This was expected after the Twins were granted a fourth minor league option on Thorpe, who has enjoyed a strong spring, pitching 7.2 innings while allowing four hits, two runs, and a pair of walks compared to eight strikeouts. While he'll start the year in Triple-A, the Twins may need the southpaw for rotational or bullpen depth at some point this season. The Thorpe news means that Randy Dobnak will likely serve as a de facto sixth starter/ bridge reliever for Minnesota in 2021, a role that could allow him to have some deep-league appeal.--Tim Capurso
