4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jose Alvarado struck out three batters in one inning pitched on Opening Day against the Braves. The left-hander allowed a hit and a walk, but got out of the inning by whiffing all three batters he retired. Alvarado was dominant in 2018 with the Rays pitching to a 2.39 ERA with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate across 64 innings. Injuries have limited Alvarado to just 39 innings over the last two seasons, but the 25-year-old is electric when healthy. Hector Neris has been named the team's closer, but fantasy managers should consider Alvarado for help with ratios and strikeouts. He's a must-roster option in leagues that reward holds.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
