Daniel Bard Holds On To Secure Save On Thursday
4 years agoColorado Rockies reliever Daniel Bard picked up his first save of the season on Thursday when he struck out two while hitting a batter and issuing a walk over a scoreless ninth inning in an 8-5 win over the Dodgers. Bard immediately got into trouble upon entering the game when he allowed a leadoff triple to Max Muncy. He then walked Chris Taylor before striking out Edwin Rios. He subsequently hit Will Smith with a pitch to load up the bases. Bard was able to settle down after that as he struck out Matt Beaty and got Mookie Betts to line out to end the game and pick up his first save of the season. It was shaky but his box score didn't look too bad at the end of the day. The 35-year-old RHP put together a solid 2020 with Colorado when he became their everyday closer. He notched six saves with a 3.65 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 27:10 K/BB ratio. Thursday was a little rocky for both the Rockies and fantasy managers alike so hopefully Bard buttons things up in his next save opportunity.
