Victor Caratini Enjoys Successful Friars Debut
4 years agoSan Diego Padres catcher Victor Caratini went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Thursday's victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Caratini got the Friars season on the board with a two-run single in the second inning before knocking in another run one frame later. The defense-first backstop will be relied upon more than expected early in 2021 due to the injury to Austin Nola (finger), and he delivered on Opening Day. Entering this year with a career .699 OPS, Caratini is barely a whisper in two catcher formats, but he should have enough run-producing chances to merit a look as a DFS punt if he stays hot.
