4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Jose Berrios was masterful in his first start of the 2021 season in a 2-0 win over the Brewers. Berrios had a no-hitter through six innings with no walks and 12 strikeouts, matching his career-high. The 26-year-old induced 18 swinging strikes- the fifth-highest total of his career- with nine of them coming on his nasty curveball, which was in rare form Saturday night. Berrios will look to build upon this excellent effort in his next start on April 8, the Twins' home opener against the Mariners. Seattle's lineup posted the eighth-highest strikeout rate in the majors last year- and the Giants' starters registered 13 punchouts in the first two games of the 2021 season against them- so Berrios is well-positioned for another good outing.--Tim Capurso
