Jon Gray Pitches Well On Saturday Before Early Exit
4 years agoColorado Rockies RHP Jon Gray was given a no-decision in Saturday's start vs. the Dodgers. He surrendered one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over five innings before exiting in the top of the sixth inning with cramps. The 29-year-old right-hander had thrown 82 pitches through five innings before serving up a double to Corey Seager to begin the sixth frame. He then exited the game with a trainer and was replaced by Yency Almonte, who gave up an RBI single to Max Muncy that knocked in Seager, so that run was charged to Gray. It's a shame he couldn't pitch deeper into the game because he was looking good but his cramps don't sound like a serious issue so he should be fine for his next turn in the rotation. He gets the D-backs at home on Thursday and will look to build on this fine performance against LA.
