T.J. Zeuch Silences Yankees’ Bats
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher T.J. Zeuch threw four shutout innings to help the club defeat the New York Yankees by a score of 3-1 on Sunday. He was starting in the place of injured pitcher Robbie Ray (bruised elbow) who was hurt late in spring training. Zeuch kept the ball down against the potent lineup and threw strikes with 40 of his 63 pitches going finding the strike zone. He struck out just one batter but only allowed three singles and one walk. Last season, Zeuch appeared in just three games but produced a 1.59 ERA thanks in part to a 63% ground-ball rate. He spent most of last year at the alternate training site where he added 2-3 mph on his sinker. He now gets the pitch up to 94-95 mph.
