4 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen left Monday's game early after taking a ball off his knee while behind the plate. The ball missed the padding of his shin guard and left the young catcher hobbled. Manager Charlie Montoyo said after the game that Jansen was feeling better. He's considered day-to-day with the injury for now. Backup catcher Alejandro Kirk, who came in to pinch-hit during the eighth inning of Toronto's 6-2 win, was already expected to catch Tuesday's game. Jansen is off to a slow start to the season with bat and is hitting just .125 through his first three games. Known predominantly for his defensive contributions, he produced an 86 wRC+ with a .183 batting average and six home runs in 43 games last season.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
