BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 42% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Ty France ascended to the majors in 2019 with the San Diego Padres after putting together some truly monstrous seasons in the minor leagues. In 2019 at Triple-A El Paso, France slashed .399/.477/770 with 27 home runs and a 196 wRC+. He hasn't exactly lit up the major leagues since then, with a .263/.330/.435 career line in limited playing time, but opportunity is aligning for France in 2021, after being traded to Seattle late in 2020.
With Seattle, France is entrenched in the second spot in the lineup, receiving every-day at-bats at designated hitter while filling in at second, third, and occasionally first base. It won't be long until he's eligible all around the infield, giving fantasy managers strong flexibility in what unfortunately could be another COVID-affected year.
In spring training this year, France took the Cactus League by storm, delivering on the promise that his strong Statcast numbers alluded to in 2020, when he had an xwOBA, xBA, and xSLG in the 76th, 86th, and 75th percentiles, respectively. France slashed .327/.421/.714 while slugging five homers and only seven strikeouts in his 49 spring training at-bats. With the only acquisition cost being a roster spot, adding France is a must. He could be on his way to a major break-out campaign.
