Luis Castillo Bounces Back In Second Start
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Luis Castillo bounced back from a disastrous Opening Day start to earn the win over the Pittsburgh Pirates in an 11-4 game. Castillo tossed seven shutout innings while striking out five and walking one. It was a welcomed performance after Castillo was lit up for eight earned runs by the St. Louis Cardinals last week. Castillo was efficient in the outing, needing just 81 pitches and throwing 61 strikes through his seven innings of work, although his fastball speed is still down from last season. It isn't a cause for concern just yet as he missed a large portion of spring training because of travel issues getting from the Dominican Republic to the United States, but it is something worth monitoring as summer approaches. The veteran hurler will look to keep it going in his next start.
