Cubs Could Tweak Lineup With Poor Offensive Start
4 years agoChicago Cubs manager David Ross mentioned that his team could experiment with lineup changes with the team hitting a poor .124 over the first six games of the season. Ross spoke about the Cubs always looking to put the best lineup on the field. Ross benched leadoff hitter Ian Happ on Thursday and promoted catcher Willson Contreras to the top spot in the lineup. Happ will likely remain at the top of the order, but Ross has spoken about keeping his players fresh. Ross has echoed that by starting outfielder Jake Marisnick in three of the Cubs first seven games and also rotating second baseman David Bote and Eric Sogard. The Cubs offensive woes date back to last season and managers should keep tabs on their upcoming lineups, because they could have an impact on many players such as first baseman Anthony Rizzo, third baseman Kris Bryant and shortstop Javier Baez if they move up or down the batting order.
